I knew Starbuck wasn’t dead! I didn’t, however, expect Hendrix as an element; The Child had some foreknowledge of that, but wasn’t familiar enough with “Watchtower” to pick up on it. It was very much fun to watch the “Battlestar Galactica” season finale tonight at Alamo Village–with so many who did recognize the lyrics as they began to unfold.

I noticed on Friday that my roses seemed to have exploded pink all over. This beautiful climbing rose, an old rose called Old Blush or the Common Monthly, grows in a pot in the corner of my yard. It’s taken over most of my back wall, covered the fence, and grown into the trees on the other side (although the deer keep it pruned back a bit over there). Recent warm temps and rain have combined to make it very, very happy, which pleases me, too. It was a lovely Mother’s Day gift from my Beloved Child the first year we lived here, and it could hardly have been a better present for all the joy it’s given me.

On a completely different note, after a crisis at work that finally drove home the message that there was too much for me to do–no matter how well I was doing it or how hard I worked–I’ve gotten permission to hire an assistant, and there will be another person involved to help the work be done correctly in the first place, so that less editing will be necessary. I’m soooo happy!

Third great event this week: At Mosaic elections, another member volunteered to update the group’s website from now on. Such a relief!

Life just gets better and better all the time!

Fish Kill Flea” (WP)–very good–as one audience member put it, it was more of a salute than I had expected–the short that was shown with it was “Scenic Highway,” which was absolutely my favorite viewing during SxSW–check out http://www.evanmather.com/

Helvetica” (WP)–interesting, but my reaction was almost never aligned with the bulk of the audience, which seemed to find it far more humorous than I did

So, that makes 22 for SxSW, which could have easily been 30 if I hadn’t been laid low by bronchitis. Maybe next year!

Election Day” (WP)–a lot like watching NPR, which is an endorsement if you’re an NPR listener–brought back memories of what I was doing on election day in 2004 and during the whole election, so made me rather sad
638 Ways to Kill Castro(NAP)–a funny documentary about how many different ways Cubans and Americans concocted to assassinate Castro–I felt bad for laughing about this, about rejoicing in ineptitude and bad motivations, but I did laugh and learned a bit, so I’d recommend it
Arranged” (WP)–very good–very sweet and respectful and funny–everyone in the theatre seemed to be enjoying it, all ages and religions
