After being a visitor in a couple of sukkot (Mosaic’s Sukkot party and a friend’s birthday party), I finally had visitors to my sukkah!
- Friends came after j2j to make s’mores in my sukkah, which made me very happy, even though it kept me up into the wee hours of the morning.
- One friend joined me for breakfast in the sukkah, which also made me very happy.
I’ve gotten to carry the Torah twice this year: once at erev and again in the morning. I hadn’t expected to be so honored again, but Yizkor drew a small crowd this year, and many people didn’t feel able to carry one because they are both heavy and important. The crowd was so small that my late arrival might have made the minyan. (Not that anyone was counting or anything….) Rabbi said that he was relieved when I showed up; I attend festival services and such so regularly that my absence was obvious. It’s nice to be reliable, which almost makes me feel badly about having lingered over Thursday breakfast. Almost.
