I love telecommuting, but it does get lonely at times! Soooo, social networking on-line has taken on a increased importance in my life. I’m on Facebook (mostly keeps me in touch with The Child and his friends who became my friends), MySpace (too buggy), Reunion (but only if they apologize for sending e-mails in my name without my permission), Classmates (expiring, because the interface is awful), and Meetup (Austin Mosaic, although I suppose that I actually see some of those people in real life, so perhaps it’s not appropriate for this list).
I enjoy movies, so there’s a lot about them here. I enjoy some local music, so there’s a bit about that here. I love the Alamo Drafthouse, so I have a chair from Downtown in my garage right now. (See the related album on Facebook if you need to know more.)
In addition to work and entertainment, I’m rather attached to my congregation and to celebrating Jewish holidays, so there’s quite a bit about those as they occur. I’ve taught Hebrew School and adult Hebrew, but this site isn’t meant to be educational.
The first few dozen entries here came from a MySpace blog, so they are sometimes rather specific to that site. If you are into authenticity, or have a tremendous curiosity about what I was reading or listening to while posting, check there, where I’m known as Gilanah Shoshanah. Except you can’t anymore, as I’ve pretty much shut it down except to a few people who were added as friends long ago.
The number one top most common search term that leads people to my blog? Vita Splash. Yes, the unlabeled product initially seemed like a stupid thing to blog about, but the intensity of my annoyance with the stupidity of their marketing has turned out to be a huge draw. You never know….
The picture of me is from the summer of 2006 in San Francisco. It was cleaned up a bit for use on business cards (removing stray tourists and unattractive building parts, softening background colors and details, etc.), but I had to additionally manipulate is to stretch the ocean to fill the space for this theme.
